Reflexology

Information and Overview

Reflexology is a science which upholds the principle that there are reflexes in the feet relative to each and every organ and all parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can benefit many health ailments in a natural way and also offers preventative maintenance to the body as a whole. Reflexology is a deeply relaxing and yet very therapeutic massage of these reflex points of the feet which brings about positive changes in the body cells helping with such problems as pain, hormonal imbalance, stress, insomnia, fatigue, tension, over-activity or under-activity of glands, organs and body systems, and a general restoration of balance and normal physiological functioning in all areas. It has its origins in antiquity the therapy having been practiced by the Chinese, Egyptians and other ancient civilisations. However it was also used by many doctors and health practitioners at the turn of the last century before the advent of modern methods of medicine and surgery. Some names associated with and renowned for their pioneering work in reflexology are Dr Wm H Fitzgerald, Joe S Riley MD and Eunice D Ingham. The latter was so inspired by the impressive results she witnessed in her patients that she found it apt to write an account of her experiences outlined in 2 books entitled “Stories the feet can tell” and” Stories the feet have told”. Reflexology has had a revival in more recent decades and is currently a very popular holistic form of therapy. It is very safe and will help to address any health related problems both physical and emotional
